Wild's T2 second-order theodolite is probably the most legendary optical theodolite of all time. It was this theodolite that guided the development of surveying instruments up to the state-of-the-art. It was produced in various versions (T2, N T2, T21, T210, T2L, T2 MIL, T2 mod.) for 70 years (from 1926 to 1996). Due to its small dimensions, robust design and high precision, the instrument was used for virtually all surveying work. It is remembered as a legend by many generations of geodesy students at University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, from the second half of the last century.
The instrument has the design of modern theodolites, which was patented by Heinrich Wild in 1921 with the Zeiss Th1 model and later definitively established with the Wild T2 model. The cylindrical axis clamped to the detachable base, the ball bearings, the glass circles, the reading by means of a single microscope and the centric alidade toric level are just some of the revolutionary technological improvements.
The instrument with the serial number 35362 was manufactured in 1954, has a sexagesimal division, and the coincidence micrometer enables the circle reading resolution of 1''. In 2016, the instrument was cleaned and partially lacquered.
