The second-order theodolite was made in 1980 and represents the pinnacle of Zeiss theodolite technology. The color and shape are typical of Zeiss instruments of the last era of optical instruments. The instrument has full functionality and is extremely structurally stable. The optical plummet, centric alidade toric level, compensator and repetition screw simplify the measuring process. The method of reading on circles with the coincidence of the diametral points of the circle division by means of a wedge optical micrometer provides the measurement resolution of 1''.
The instrument was used at the Faculty until the end of the 1990s, mainly for teaching work for measurements in horizontal and vertical trigonometric nets. It was very popular with students, mainly because of its ease of use and precision. It was also used for professional work in engineering geodesy.
In January 2017, the instrument was cleaned and paint damage was repaired.
