The level with horizontal circle (transit) was made around 1900. A circular level is used for rough levelling, while a rotatable toric level attached to the telescope that can be removed provides the horizontal line of sight. The hairs, fixed on a metal frame in the eyepiece, provide the standard Reichenbach crosshairs. The correction screws of the crosshairs are clearly visible.

A horizontal circle with a resolution of 1' complements the instrument and turns it into a tacheometer, allowing detailed polar measurements on terrains with smaller inclinations.

The instrument was fully restored in 2016. According to the restorer's assessment, it is one of the most beautiful in the collection of the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering.
