The cutting-edge second-order theodolite was made in 1982. The instrument is relatively small and extremely compact for the category of second-order theodolites. It weighs 6.2 kg. The instrument has Kern's characteristic tangential foot screws for levelling, which maintains a constant height of the instrument's Y-axis. Despite the relatively small circles, the special way of reading the division enables a second precision. It differs from the Kern DKM2-A theodolite in that it has built-in electronic accessories that enable the use of Kern's DM-series modular electronic distance meters.

The instrument was used for measuring angles in precision geodetic nets, as part of thesis and professional work at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, Chair of Geodesy. In the 1980s, it was used at the Chair for a large-scale polygon net survey for a detailed topographic survey of the area of the Žirovski vrh uranium mine.

The instrument is in the same condition as when it was originally taken out of service; it is as new and still fully functional.
