The electronic theodolite was made in 1996. The theodolite is one of the last models of stand-alone electronic theodolites of the usual precision and forms the basis for the modular tacheometer. A Leica Wild DI model distance meter is mounted on the telescope; at the Chair of Geodesy, it was used in combination with the Leica Wild DIOR 3002S distance meter. The combination allowed for easy and fast detailed measurements, for the first time without the use of reflectors. What is common today was a wonder in the 1990s. The detailed measurement was given new dimensions.
The instrument is basically a second-order theodolite, with a measurement precision of 1''. As a fact of interest, the instrument was used in 1998 to measure the shape and dimensions of cooling tower 4 at the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant, which was something completely new at the time.
The instrument is in the same condition as it was when it was originally taken out of service.
