The tacheometer was made in 1998. It is the successor of the TC2002 instrument. The dynamic angle measurement method replaces the coded static method. The precision is the same as the predecessor’s, 0.15 mgon (0.5'') for direction measurements and 1 mm; 1 ppm for distance length measurements. The instrument takes 4 seconds for a usual measurement.

The TC2003 has much more functionality than its predecessor, the TC2002. A clearer keyboard and multi-line display, a choice between different user measurement programs, and a simpler way of storing and transferring measurement data made the instrument friendly and efficient to use at the turn of the century.

The instrument was used at University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering for teaching work, mainly for diplomas, as well as for research and professional work for the measurement of precision geodetic micronets for the observation of the stability of structures and soils (hydroelectric power plant dams, tectonic faults). It is in the same excellent condition as when it was originally taken out of service in 2005.
