This simple level without telescope was made around 1850. The instrument is one of the oldest in the collection of the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering. A levelling toric level with a tilting screw is mounted in the centre of the long ruler. Instead of the telescope, two crosshairs are clamped onto two special metal frames. There is a thin observation slot next to the crosshairs. Taking a sight is possible through a slot in one bracket to the hairs clamped in the other bracket.
The instrument was restored in 2016 – partially lacquered, two new hairs were used. A wooden base was added.
