The T1 theodolite was manufactured at the Wild Heerbrugg factory in the 1940s. Small but very compact, this instrument is the simplest in a series of three legendary Wild theodolites in the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering collection (T1, T2 and T3). The modern design, patented by Heinrich Wild in 1921, is a feature of all three models. The cylindrical axis clamped to the detachable base, the ball bearings, the centric alidade toric level, the optical plummet, the glass circles and the reading by means of the microscope at the eyepiece of the telescope are the essential technological improvements derived from the Zeiss Th1 model. The theodolite is classified as a minute-order theodolite, and the scale microscope with a graduation unit estimation enables the resolution of 6''.

The instrument was completely restored and fully lacquered in 2016. The color is darker and more luminous than that of Wild's instruments of the time.
