The plane table with telescopic alidade (kipregel) was made in 1955, at a time when graphic detailed measurement was becoming a thing of the past. A special bracket is added for centring the plane table. When preparing the instrument for measurement, as many as four toric levels are used. The table is roughly levelled with a separate circular level placed directly on the table. Horizontal circle (alidade) toric level allows fine levelling and the vertical circle index is controlled with a vertical circle level. A levelling toric level is mounted on the telescope.
A compass with a division for orienting the plane table with respect to magnetic north is added to the kipregel. The instrument resembles a self-reducing tacheometer in some respects. It has a vertical circle, and in the telescope the special shape of the crosshairs, with the use of a suitable tacheometric staff, enables direct measurement of horizontal distances and height differences.
The instrument was purchased for teaching purposes, but was not used much and is in excellent condition.
